Ballard Design Desk Chair – It seems the rustic cabin and lodge look decorating theme has gained much popularity nowadays. Picture yourself here: A rustic log home, standing amongst the pine trees, so it is steep metal roof dripping with dew in the morning’s crisp air, a swirl of smoke spiraling up from the chimney, the birds chirping in the trees, the morning sun rising over the distant hill. A small breeze blowing, just enough to set the wind chimes into a soft soothing movement. You’re sitting in your cozy chair, gazing out upon this majestic beauty, a crackling fire dance in the stone fireplace, you’re sipping a steaming cup of hot cocoa, the gold honey tones of your log home, giving you a feeling of warmth, serenity, and comfort.
For all those of us that are fortunate enough to live this lifestyle, there is no better feeling. For those of you who only dream this lifestyle, there is hope. You don’t need to reside in a secluded forest or nestled next to a distant lake to give the inside of your home a warm cabin feeling. Not only are we seeing log houses getting more and more popular, we are also seeing more and more contemporary homes decorating together with the cabin décor theme. There is NOT just one ideal decorating style for a home. Your personality needs to be whatever makes you feel comfy and protected. You would like a place to unwind, a cozy hang-out, a location where you could feel at ease. Carefully think about your lifestyle and customs, as this may play a fantastic role in your decorating theme. Incorporate what you enjoy on your own decorating.
Can you long for the cozy cabin atmosphere throughout your home, or can you just need one or two rooms that reflect that rustic cabin charm? There is 1 thing that plays a major role in the rustic cabin feel, this thing being timber. Oh, the pleasure of timber! Bringing Mother Nature’s beauty into your home. There is an abundant variety of beautiful timber products to select from, a number of the most commonly used for interior decorating are: Pine, aspen, maple, hickory, alder, cherry, walnut, weathered barn wood and red cedar. Wood flooring can generate that country atmosphere, wood ceilings and timber walls add warmth and coziness to your home. And then, we have the accessories and furniture, coffee tables, end tables, dressers, dining room tables and chairs, desks, kitchen cabinetry, log beds, rustic rocking chairs, and the list continues on and on.
Other important facets of cabin/lodge decorating are color, texture, and light. Introducing color and texture is vital. I’ve discovered that there are no bounds here. I have not found a color that doesn’t compliment the woodsy surroundings in a log home. Accentuate your home with colours you love. Add braided area rugs to the floor, place Indian blankets across the backs of furniture. Brightly colored quilts could be folded at the foot of beds. Contain rustic touches by adding colorful plush cushions. Gather a bucket of pine cones and match your wicker baskets. Strategically place pottery on tables and next to furniture.
Place brilliant colored placemats on the dining room table. Add handcrafted items throughout your home. Think beyond framed artwork to decorate your walls, anything around the walls can be a captivating display. I’ve a seven-foot aspen log on my bedroom wall over my headboard. I peeled, sanded, finished it with a non gloss varnish and then inserted some greenery and pine cones. It looks remarkable. Curtains and window coverings may also help to boost the lodge atmosphere and may be handmade in a fraction of the cost if you have your own sewing equipment.
